WORKING AT PHOENIX-FLY
We regularly get questions about working at Phoenix-Fly. The team of people we work with are highly skilled professionals. People making positive contributions to the sport, showcasing a workers mentality, having outstanding skills in flying and coaching will automatically be people we notice. From there, if the need arises we will always seek out talented individuals for positions within Phoenix-Fly when available. Due to the high safety requirements, we are not able to hire based on resume or emails, and can’t offer any internships or on the job learning experience. If you showcase talent in the sport, we will find you.
LEARNING TO FLY
If you want to learn to fly a wingsuit, it’s important to already be a licensed, active and current skydiver with a minimum of 200 freefall jumps. If you are not a skydiver, and want to get into the sport, contact your local dropzone with any questions you may have, and sign up for an AFF course.
For a Wingsuit First Flight Course (FFC) Phoenix-Fly recommends:
Have minimum 200 freefall skydives
Adhere to your own license and DZ rules
Use suitable gear
Use of an AAD and Mard, Skyhook or RSL
Use a wingsuit size/category suitable for FFC
A good FFC includes a briefing on the following elements:
Gear overview and canopy selection
(Rig, Main, Reserve, AAD, RSL, Audible etc)
Wingsuit rigging
Exit technique and navigation
Body position and Practice pulls
Deployment and canopy procedures
Recovery technique and emergency procedures
We recommend using a wingsuit with the arm wing root not extending past the upper leg for an unobstructed pull, and the leg wing not extending past the feet.
In terms of general experience, we recommend:
Rookie/Small Wingsuit – 0-50 WS Skydives
Intermediate Wingsuit – 50-200 WS Skydives
Large Wingsuit – 200+ WS Skydives
For more bespoke advice on progression and gear choice we recommend contacting one of our PF Ambassadors.
